Catching/fishing for Avocados

I've
talked about our avocado tree before and the abundance of the fruit.
Well John decided to get a few more this evening and I was very
helpful--I took pictures!!!

John
had one pole and Robert the other--the white one. Of course if they
were 60 years younger they would have/could have scampered up the tree
but that's another story!!!

I
would estimate that John must have dropped at least a dozen--of course
those who did nothing but watch took a share before anyone else did!
And, no, I didn't take any! On the right are '4 bagfulls'!

There are still a load left on the top branch that couldn't be reached. Look at the left under the tip of the palm tree.

I
have a feeling a lot of people will be having/making different avocado
dishes over the next few days which means though it is a very healthy
food, in moderation, we may have a few fatter seniors!

What fun! Just watching it would have been a good time. I'm going to try Maria's idea with the sugar and vanilla and milk.

Ever since Maria mentioned it I have been thinking of avocado ice cream!!!

Avocados are certainly a "wonder food". Glad you're making good use of them. Easier to catch than real fish.

Too many, too much, too soon! When will I ever learn moderation?!?!?! NEVER!!

I love, love, love guacamole....and I dont know if it has ever taken off in the US, but in the Philippines we looooove avocado ice-cream. My favorite way to eat avocado is to scoop the flesh out with a large spoon, place in a parfait glass, add as much sugar as you want, vanilla essence (about half a teaspoon) and very cold fresh milk. Yuuuuummmmmm.

When I worked in Who Song & Larry's---a Mexican restaurant--I made guacamole table side and I made it good! Never heard of avocado ice cream! Always a new thing to eat!
