FEBRUARY 9, 2012 1 WHITE BLOSSOM, 7 PINK BLOSSOMS, 5 BUDS
In
1964 Pepe asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I answered with
the old standard, "Surprise me!" He in turn did surprise me by saying
that if I didn't tell him what I wanted he wouldn't get me anything as
he didn't want to get me something I didn't want or need. I have sort of
bought into that and ever since have made a birthday gift list. Don't
tell anyone but I am happy getting anything but just in case you don't
have any ideas here are a few.
See
the car above? It was a 1973 Chevy Caprice convertible that I had to
get rid of in 2004 and I haven't had a car since which can make life
difficult in Fort Lauderdale, especially since they eliminated the bus
line that use to stop at Gateway. On top of my gift list is a red Caddy
or Chevy convertible from the 1970s--oh yes, with a full year of
automobile insurance paid. Hey, I'll pay the gas.
Of course I would love another money balloon like I got for my 16th birthday but I'll settle for the carrot cake!
The
2 autobiographies by Steven Sondheim--fresh cut flowers--potted
plants---restaurant gift certificates--gift cards for either Office
Depot, Home Depot or Target--show tickets for Gladys Knight (2/14),
Barry Gibbs (2/21), Dianna Ross (2/23), and/or Frankie Valli (3/2) all
playing at the Hard Rock Casino--aisle seats, please--chocolate,
chocolate or chocolate--I do like white chocolate and yes I know it
isn't chocolate--carrot cake--gift certificates for the Gateway Theatre
Cinema or Frank Theatre Cinemas--gift certificates for Godiva or Sees
chocolates--goodies from zestofmemphis--flipflops, size 11--a new
computer--a good digital camera--gift certificates for Winn-Dixie and/or
Publix--Cuisinart mixer--a few from SD, if you know what I mean! Or
the book by Arthur Laurents:
Actually,
if truth be known but don't tell anyone, I would be happy to just
receive a card and your love or thoughts as, aside from the car, I have
everything I need and/or want.

Now that wasn't too tacky, was it?
