Job Hunting

John Smith started the day early having set his

alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am.

While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA)

was perking, he shaved with his

electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA),

designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE)

and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)

After cooking his breakfast in his new

electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA)

he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO)

to see how much he could spend today. After setting

his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN)

to the radio (MADE IN INDIA)

he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY)

filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia)

and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day

checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia),

Joe decided to relax for a while.

He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL)

poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE)

and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA),

and then wondered why he can't find

a good paying job in AMERICA .

DUH!

It is so true that almost everything we purchase and use comes from another country. It might not matter so much if those other countries were buying so many goods from us that they were spending all their money on our stuff and filling up our economy with their cash. I don't mind EVEN trade, but it has gotten so darn lop-sided that it's hard to find our goods on their shelves as well as on ours. (Oh, some country's people will get into some of our fad things, such as jeans, music and movie CDs and DVDs, but a lot of that stuff even gets manufactured for us by other places. Tsk! Tsk!)

Walmart kept building more and more stores closer to town until our good old Abernathy's Emporium folded up their sign and went away. George Abernathy sold my nephew his first Cub Scout Uniform. His son Mark sold that same nephew the shoes he wore to High School Graduation, years later. Most of my adult life I have bought my bright orange winter zippie hoodies from them. Just for the record, Walmart doesn't carry bright orange zippy hoodies.

Very sad, but oh how true!!!! Although, he shouldn't be drinking that wine from France when there are sooooo many great wines from California, Oregon, and Washington!!!!!

They are a tad strange aren't they. We call them Wally Worlds, my friend Duncan, yes that same Duncan who posited the Economic theory of beer, just loves them! He lives on a sailboat and there is a Wally World next to the marina, and he shops there. Of course he has issues with fresh food that has been touched by human hands (I didn't say he was normal) so he loves the food section because that stuff is so far removed from the food chain it isn't funny.
