If anyone has shingles, please tell me what you do to minimize the pain and discomfort. The doctor gave my husband a pill, Ketoconazole....I hope it brings him some relief because he is really suffering.

He still have the Meneire's?had it for some time now did he not. As for me,have not had any attacked on this.Been some time. But lost most of my hearing.One ear is gone and the other some measurable hearing with the help of a hearing aid some.
I did google shingles when Dot got it--they said the vaccine won't help those who already have shingles.
Martin is right.There is a vaccine for this.It has been proven successful.Lo siento about the pain.
If one has ever had chicken pox, they are a candidate for shingles. Get the shot NOW. The only thing I know is exposure to strong sunlight or ultra violet light can help a little.
There is a vaccine for shingles that I have been telling everyone to get for over a year now--it won't help your husband but YOU should get it. I hate to be negative but my friend Dot has had it for a year (she is the reason I got the shot)and she couldn't find anything to relieve the pain--sorry.
