Winding Down

Today, I woke up to snow. It was totally unexpected
because I didn't watch the news last night. Rex bounded
out enthusiastically, only to return wet and ready for
his breakfast.

We had a good holiday except for the fact that my daughter
was unable to come home. Her family was sick with colds
and they can't be around Bobby. My most notable gift was
a Kindle from Bobby and Ellie. He also got us wifi and
set it up for us. Ted doesn't do Christmas presents so
over the years, I have learned to buy what I want and
tell him that it is my Christmas present from him. It
saves me from sulking because he wasn't thoughtful. He
has given me lots of jewelry at odd times during the year.
He just isn't into Christmas.

We are awash in candy and snacks. I have gained nearly
ten pounds so I am trying to ignore it all. I smoked
the turkey breast and it was so very good that we ate it
all and the grand daughters took all the stuffing home
with them. They have just learned to appreciate it.
They also took the fudge but Renee brought some Aunt
Bill's brown candy and peanut butter fudge that I am
trying to ignore.

I wish all of my mybloggers friends a happy and prosperous
new year.

A lovely time for you. I think your family is your rock. I now only have first cousins, whom I love, but they are in Illinois. We have long phone calls, but she won't travel, and her brother travels but has his own commitments so he doesn't get to us. It's a male thing.

My family is my rock. Getting old sucks big time but being the matriarch
is not all bad. Sometimes I feel like an ancient elephant t rying to herd
them all.

It's hard to not wish the holidays over, but it's never a good policy to wish for time to go into fast forward, so I'm trying to savor all the moments.

Too much fudge, too much of everything but isn't that what holidays are
about.

We sure did. I vow to have turkey more often now that the little girls
have learned to like the stuffing.
