In the Throes of a Blizzard

we are having a blizzard here, at least for us it seems
to be a blizzard. The wind is howling, we have had thunder
snow and sleet all day. It is so cold that Rex is crossing
his legs to keep from going outside. I opened the door and
a wintry blast forced me back inside. It was ll today and
will be 4 or below tonight.

Jeremy and the neighbors have called to see if we need
assistance of any kind. I hate being shut in. we were
invited to a birthday dinner for my friend, Mary but decided
that it would be fool hardy to even go the five blocks to
Phyllis's house. My rationale being that if I fall and
break something, Ted and Rex will be S.O.L.

Mike is such a wonderful guest. He filled up a rack on the
porch with firewood when they were here last summer. I
have appreciated it greatly today.

We are so unused to this weather that we seldom buy winter
coats...just jackets..but Ted insisted that I get one this
winter and it was a good thing too. It has been put to
good use.

I feel like such a wimp, knowing how cold it has been in the
North and East.

Most people are waiting for spring but I'm waiting for summer as our spring is not much different from our winter; cold and wet. I must admit, I am looking forward to daylight saving time next Sunday.

I hope you have some warm weather soon. I, for one, am tired of muddy
dog tracks.

Truly longing for winter to let go of us....

We are all sick of winter and it won't seem to loosen it's grip on us.

Hey 11 degrees is COLD! Nothing wimpy about that. Stay safe and warm and we here in VA with the shut down govt will try to do the same. Monday has effectively been cancelled!

When I lived in Virginia, I didn't feel the cold as much because there was
not this awful wind. We are staying warm and safe...just bored.

When you are in a moderate climate, your body changes to accommodate and chill weather gets to you more. In Florida, which is a subtropic climate, your blood thins out. The mosquitoes don't bite you as much (I can just hear them saying, "yuck, you call thsi blood?"), but you can't tolerate cold. So if I bike in 50 degree weather, I am wearing my northern down jacket with hood and gloves. What good luck that you got a warm coat just before you needed it.

I am longing for summer. I am not a cold weather person. I showed the
open door to Rex this morning and he politely declined to go out. I can
just imagine how cold 50 degrees must seem after being used to the
seventies.

Brrr! We have been experiencing a Polar Vortex here - frigid - and maybe you're getting the edge of it.

The faucets seemed to have survived the night. Rex's bladder is holding
out. I saw the storms path and we are right on the edge of it. I hope you
have wood stashed close to the house.
