Target

I think my advanced age has made me a target for scammers. I may have told you that we are constantly getting phone calls telling me that I have won mega millions or publishers clearing house. The amount varies but it all comes back to the registration fee they are asking and that starts out at 850. and ends up at l00.00. When I refuse to play they just keep calling and wanting information. It is not that I wouldn't love to have won but living longer did not make me stupid.

Then, starting in February, a tech from Geeks on Site came out and repaired Ted's lap top. We were shocked to find that he had somehow ordered 26 movies from our remote. I got att to take the charges off and he did it again. This time I have had the channels blocked and I have a new router and password to install. He is the only person who had access to our wify password with the technical skills to pirate it. We should have known he was not trustworthy because he offered to cut his employer out altogether. Ted doesn't want to
turn him in to Geeks on site but I would in a heartbeat. If this doesn't fix it, we will have to cancel Direct tv.

Ane who knows about this pop up I am constantly getting called Patriot cash where Donald Trump is going to pay you for your loyalty to him. That is blatant bribery and surely can't be legitimate.

The world has gone totally crazy and it is hard to stay sane. We
have become such greedy people and so heartless not to be protesting about the children who are locked up. It is as though we have little kids in a concentration camp living in Texas in tents is normal. If this is so, then I hate the new normal.

We get two to three calls a day. If we answer, the line is silent and then goes dead. I am told not to answer, but it is difficult to see who is calling and Ed's guardian work means he gets lots of calls that aren't familiar. I learned that just by answering, the caller is gaining information. And even though I have shot him down many times, I keep getting calls from someone claiming to be from my phone provider, telling me I have "trouble" on the system and he'll "help" me through correcting it. And I keep getting calls from India, claiming to be "John Drew" or "Bob Armstrong" -- Ed says, No, Gupta, that isn't your name, and swears at him. Once, the caller was so annoyed, he called back and swore at Ed.

it seems the elderly are targets for all scams and unfortunately some will fall for it. we got rid of our landline. on my cell i have an app and i can block all calls that are not on my contact list.

Have you tried nomorobo to block most annoying calls? Time Warner offers it on our account but you can go to nomorobo dot com and sign up. Landlines are free and it's legit. We've had it for years. The phone rings once while the call is being checked and then it stops ringing if it's a telemarketer. Plus with the one ring you know how many calls are blocked. It hasn't stopped any legit calls that I'm aware of so I wouldn't do without it. As for the other world problems: I can't offer any suggestions.

No and thanks for the information. I am so tired of a ringing phone and sometimes I am afraid not to answer when expecting a repair person because they call from unknown numbers. Alas, no one can solve some of the world problems.

I just read a review of Cash for Patriots - if it's the same one as what you're seeing, it's not money from Trump. The premise is that Trump's tax code reform will make it more attractive for corporations to pay larger/more dividends, so if you invest in the right companies, you will make a profit. They are selling an investment newsletter.

I just didn't read it but it will suck in the gullible. Greed is bait and it will be amusing when they wind up at the end.

Yes! Turn him in! He could ruin someone's credit or worse. Take care.

As to turning him in. This is our evidence and it is purely circumstance. He took a picture of our wi fi password with his phone, he had the tech skills necessary to do this, the timing is consistent with the time he was here. He also offered to work under the table which in itself is dishonest. Ted says, "We have no real proof. It is winter, he has a family and he is struggling." That is his rationale.
He thinks it could have possibly been a neighbor but we have not had a neighbor in our home office.

Please turn him in! If Geeks on Site is a reputable business, they don't want him working for them and would really want to know about it. It's a serious theft by fraud.
I've gotten to the point that I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. They can leave voicemail.

I explained to Jeremy the reasons Ted doesn't want to turn him in. I am merciless about dishonesty and may inform the local police. They are tough on fraud and try to alert local neighborhoods about what is going on.

Do you follow Amy Siskand? She helps me stay sane by reminding us all that the new normal IS NOT normal.
I get daily phone calls offering insurance of some sort. When I block a number they call back with a similar number. It’s annoying! I would def turn that guy in who worked on your computer!!! You would be saving some other poor soul, I’m sure.

Kristy, we have no concrete proof it was him but no one else has been in our home office. I will constantly check with att now that we have our channels blocked and a new router and password to make sure it isn't happening again. As I said, if it is then we get a new server.
