The scent of cinnamon and apples is wafting through the house, homemade soup is simmering and cheese biscuits are ready to go in the oven. Funny how food and home and contentment seem to be intertwined. I have been using Laura's biscuit recipe and it is wonderful. They melt in your mouth, quite the best biscuits that I have ever made.
Rex rolled in the mud last night and had to be bathed before I could let him in the house. I should have known better, but we walked by the pond that is drying up. He rolled in it and was covered head to toe with mud. I had to literally pour water over him to get him clean enough for the utility room. He has the most amazing fur. It sheds dirt readily and he stays amazingly clean for a dog who has so many adventures. He caught an armidillo last night but didn't know what to do with it and let it get away. They are busy rototilling our lawn. I am not fond of the little prehistoric looking critters.
I have read a book by Louise Erdich and I wouldn't say it was riveting. It was interesting but didn't have much continuity and left out the fate of several interesting characters. It is called, THE PLAGUE OF DOVES and is set in North Dakota .
A pleasant Sunday to you all! Jeri
