When I was first married and enjoying my love for old
things, an elderly neighbor gave me her old camel back
trunk that she had brought to Oklahoma when she was a
bride. I never had it professionally restored but kept it
safe for lo these past sixty years.
My neice's first husband was that neighbor's grandson and
her daughter, Kristen was thrilled when I asked her if she
wanted her great, great grandmother's trunk. It was big
and needed a truck to transport but my nephew picked it
up yesterday and Kristen has a connection to the past that
she cherishes.
We had a glorious family day yesterday with my sister's
family and mine. The food was fantastic and the visiting
and remembering and laughter even better. We must do it
as often as possible. I can hardly believe that I have
great, great neices and nephews now and that their mothers
and fathers are all grown up. There were twenty of us
and it was a lovely day.
