From an Old Hippies Perspective

I am looking back with nostalgia on the days of peace
and love, flower children, cheap wine and special
brownies. When you stop and think about gun violence and
an absurd candidate for President who may actually win
with his fascist message of hate and fear, they were the
good old days.

The music was wonderful. Remember Peter, Paul and Mary
and Puff the Magic Dragon? Rock and Roll was going to
send us to hell. Doesn't that sound lame next to what
is going on now.

We never gave a thought to illness or physical well
being because we were young and thought ourselves
invincible.

How I loved that time in my life!!!

I think it would have been amazing to be alive then.

I did not have a glorious young adulthood, but I miss being at the threshold of my life. You only get one whack at it. I did okay, but just by a hair. And then there was Jay ....

Jay was everything to you, lover, husband and mentor. Very seldom do
you find it all in one man.

Reply above. I have always seen war as the waste it was. No one ever
wins. The risidue of broken minds and bodies are left with us all.

I think it was becaus I was 37 before I went to college and was
surrounded by younger people who became my friends. I have always
been more liberal and flexible than most of my peers.

We appreciated it more then, I think. It was a glourious time for me.

Usually people a few years older than me identify with the 50s. Beatniks and four-cord 50s tunes.

The early 50s were a time of being reborn after WWII. It was an interesting time.
