Lament for a Little Girl

A sweet innocent life was taken in New Mexico because of
the penchant for violence that we are experiencing in our
country. Too many students and innocent people are shot
every day. I cannot understand minds that do not value
life, human or animal. Do our young people not understand
that dead is dead? That those they kill will not be alive
to contribute to society, to nurture and care for others
and to bless us all with their presence.

I have lived 86 years without owning a gun. I do not think
they should be considered a necessity. The problem with
lax gun laws is that maniacal people are able to get them
so easily. It is a complex problem that involves safety,
hunting, (which I deplore), and in certain instances
protection.

Please let your voice be heard by way of facebook or
Twitter or letters to your congressman. We are all
diminished by needless deaths.

I'm in one of those states where they tried to tighten the gun laws by passing legislation limit the number of bullets in an automatic weapon and the sheriffs from various counties including mine sued the state and the legislators who sponsored the bill were run out of office. I hate it.

The young man who shot Lily had already been arrested once for road
rage and the charge was dismissed. I wish I did not live in the gun
toting old west. It does not suit me.

It's amazing how violent society is, and how we are all touched by it in some way. But there is good too - just don't hear about it nearly as often as we should.

We have made all these vast technological advances but there is a
pervasive loss of empathy and kindness in the world.

Absolutely. It has gone way too far for a sane nation to accept.

I cannot understand those twisted minds.
