Two Great Surprises

After having a really awful week, this week I have had two nice surprises from friends. It has been thirty years since I worked at Robin Hill school. Two of my friends from there had passed away and there were a lot of changes. I heard from Joyce, the Kindergarten teacher and a good friend of mine. The upshot was that she came for lunch and it was wonderful catching up. We talked non stop for five hours just like thirty years had not gone by. She has a great life, she married an engineering professor from O.U. and has three fine sons. we couldn't help but plot a meeting between them and Adrienne. Her life was touched by tragedy. She lost her little girl to heart problems when she was under three years old and the last time I had seen her was at the babies funeral. Then tonight, Jeremy just came out of the blue and swooped in and took my curtains down so I could wash them. I was so happy because it entailed a lot of climbing and I had no idea how it was going to get done. The family room has high ceilings...at least ten feet and possibly more. I called him when they were laundered and he jogged over and rehung them. What a great friend he has been to us. It was also nice to catch up on his family and their antics. Jose has become a pudgy little guy and we are looking forward to getting out and walking when the weather is decent. It was pretty today for the first time in ages.

I don't trim bushes anymore, and changing the Tempurpedic split king bed really needs a helper because the mattresses are so heavy, although I have done it alone. Ed asking for things again. And before we knew I was coming home, he arranged for a house cleaner. Now that I am here, he is going to appointments and I have to deal with her and I don't need that right now. It will take all of my strength. I wish I could just rest today because when I got home, I took care of some cleaning emergencies that couldn't wait for her. So, no rest for the weary. But, you know, Ms. Compulsive here, would have gone nuts watching Ed direct her if he hadn't gone out, so maybe I do this to myself.

It is hard to give up on things that one has always done. I don't like having to supervise a house cleaner but it is better than doing it myself these days. Happy Valentine's Day!

It sounds like spring at your house. How did you do that?

Yay Jeremy! That is great that he was able to help you out.
I hope the good just keeps on coming

I was considering just dispensing with curtains all together but we need the sheers for privacy. Hurrah for Jeremy!

Yes, what was so easy for him was impossible for me!

Hooray for Jeremy! There are some household tasks that seem just insurmountable, and to a young person it's whoosh-whoosh! and done.

I prided myself on my ability to climb around on ladders but sadly it has deserted me and I wobble now. A younger friend of mine was telling me how she hates to ride with two of our older friends and I told her the only difference was I knew that my driving needed to be limited.
