Fourth of July

I especially enjoyed Google's little marching band this
morning. It has been such a source of amusement to me
when I get on the computer.

Bobby and family were here for a late lunch and we are
deciding whether or not to go to Ted's families picnic this
evening. It is up to Ted, we aren't going to eat because I
have already transgressed by eating home made bread and
coconut pie and baked beans. The menu was sort of crazy.
Beef Straganoff cole slaw, baked beans etc. Ted is apalled
at the English custom of baked beans on toast and baked beans
for breakfast but I sort of like it. I don't like eggy
breakfasts or soggy cerial. My favorite is sausage gravy
and biscuits. Jimmy Dean hot only!

I missed seeing Linda and her children.

I got out the good china and silver for our meal. Why save
it. I have already given the kids each half of my Lenox and
half of the sterling but I don't think they entertain like
we used to. I love having people over but Ted is somewhat
reclusive and always dreads it, even before he got sick.

I have decided to live fully in the present moment if I can,
relishing what my life is like now and trying not to think
about the future.

I feel for Sherry next door. There is a huge crowd at her
house and she doesn't feel well. It is a mystery thing,
She can't eat, can't sleep and has no energy. The bathing
suit clad guests are strolling past my window as I write.
I hope she gets help cooking and cleaning up.

I hope the holiday was fun for you.

Unless someone asks us to a backyard barbecue or party, we don't pay attention to holidays. A neighbor used to invite us but stopped, perhaps encouraged by badmouthing from his good friend, my brother-in-law. His other guests were one rung up from total ape, and Ed says he was once asked "why do you dress that way" - he was wearing pressed chinos and an Izod shirt and criticism was "too fancy." This guy always sets off fireworks from his dock - the noise was deafening -- the only fireworks I enjoy are the huge professional ones like Macy's in New York's East River that I saw one year by showing up hours early. Up close is not for me. Little does this neighbor know that shunning us is a blessing.

BEANS MEANS HEINZ--Xmas is the only time my family sits down together for a meal , each year its done at a different members house, its all in for washing up me excluded.
Entertaining at home seems to be lost nowadays, I often wonder is it because of cost.

When we moved here from the farm, I wanted a dining room so we could all
sit together and talk. I have enjoyed it immensely. There is just something
about an extended dining time. We have done this on Thanksgiving with my
sister and her family, taking turns. It is such a pleasure.

I miss seeing googles themes since I'm always on my phone internet but it sounds cute!
Sadly I'm probably going to be in bed tonight before the fireworks even start! Pregnancy and a toddler to blame?
Sounds like you had a nice day with family. We decided to lay low this weekend and didn't make any plans. So far so good!

Google had a flag and a little marching band with music. It was so cute.
Ted decided against going to his brother's family 4th of July. Then he
refused to go watch fire works. I was disappointed. Know how you feel
about going to bed early. My new great grand daughter has Sara tuckered
out too.

I have no idea what Google's little marching band is/was. Sorry i missed that. Crazy menus are fun sometimes! (But I had to laugh at your 'transgressions.) Yes, living life in the present is a great attitude. I am adopting that- and not having any expectations. Fewer expectations means less disappointment. I am ready to just be happy!

Do be happy Dottie. Sometimes we just have to let go of our expectations
in order to grab the gusto. I am guilty of multi tasking and not enjoying
the present moment but I am trying to fix that as well as worry. Worry
accomplishes nothing and doesn't change the outcome.
