Fantastic Garage Sales

I hurried through my housework this morning so I could get
out early and scout the garage sales. There is a large one
on Bella Vista being held by my friends, Phyllis and Renee and
a super one on Ridgewood. The one on Ridgewood had an adorable l6xl4 log cabin for sale. The only difficulty would
be getting it out of the back yard. It even had a front
porch, big enough for a couple of chairs, there was no bath
but it had air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

I bought 5 shirts from Phyllis and a couple of lovely platters perfect for parties and Christmas. At one point,
I had to go get Ted and the Suburban so I could get my huskier
purchases home. The place that had the log cabin was giving
away a somewhat damaged cradle but they had no takers while
I was there.

School is almost out and the end of school program that Ashley
was in was horrible. It was a difficult 40 minutes to sit
through. I would have fired the teacher that put it together.
There is just so much that parents and grandparents can stand.
Double Yuk. It made me long for a hook to yank the worst
performers right off the stage. Ashley just was part of
the chorus and she stood there and loomed over everyone. That child is taller than her teachers, her mother and her
grandmother.

I have to go and pick up Adrienne from school. She has an
interview with the science museum.

Memorial Day weekend is one of the biggies for yard sales in these parts. Now that we have the little car we can cover more miles this year!

I really wanted the log cabin but my yard is too small. It would have made
a great guest house.

Maybe we can find some good ones while you are here. There is a group I know
that does ebay and I guess they make good money. For some of them that is
there only occupation.

You are always so busy!!! Are you very happy you moved closer to the grand kids?

It was really providential that we were able to move because we are able
to help Bobby through the worst of his illness, Ted is no longer able to
get around and I could not have handled the upkeep on the farm and the girls
have needed us too. It just couldn't have worked out better because our
location is so convenient. For instance, I am half a mile to the bank, just
a few blocks farther to a major shopping center and 5 blocks to a super market.

Ah, grandmotherhood. You were noble. There is a neighborhood wide garage sale every year. We never participate. Ed never wants to get rid of anything and when he can't find something he mutters darkly that I must have thrown it out. Innocent. Although I do get tempted.

Does Ed let you donate? I refuse to have garage sales but I donate to
Habitat for Humanity, Cerebral Palsy and a local mission. They are grateful
for old clothing and things we are tired of. Ted even donated his motorcycle. It takes a lot of fortitude to sit through school programs.
