3 Dog Night ... Literally.

I am keeping my grand dogs and they know what to expect. Their expectations are easy to meet, full bowls of dog food, plenty of water and this is harder...my constant presence. If I leave the house then little Mandy cries. She is my shadow. I had forgotten how loyal Yorkshire terriers are. Penny, the chihuahua, is sweet but perpetually cold and wears a sweater all the time. I have a furry throw and she has appropriated it. I woke up this morning with Jose and Mandy on my pillow and Penny coiled around the rest of me. Oddly enough I slept very well in this nest of dogs. I wonder if it is a prehistoric memory of life as a cave woman lurking in my brain. I went to bed early last night and heard nothing at midnight. A friend who stayed up said there were not fire works or sirens or noise makers. I guess our neighborhood is too staid and quiet for noisy celebrations. We are pretty much shut in because of the weather. The intense and damp cold robs you of the incentive to get out. I made a huge pot of chili and a pecan pie. The weather seems to call for it.

Winter cold vs. hot chili

Buster's dog bed always gets so dirty so fast that I can't imagine what it would be like the let him in the human's bed. Maybe it's different with small ones. Happy New Year.

Rex always had a doggy odor. Jose and these little ones do not smell.
wonder why?

These little ones get baths and stay pretty clean because they only go outside to pee and poop. Mandy is the problem child because she growled at Jose when he tried to get on my pillow last night. If she loses sight of me she cries and barks. we are having an ice storm. The trees and
electrical lines are covered. Hope it doesn't get worse!!

I'm glad you were spared all the New Year's noise. We sheltered in the living room until it passed, just in case a stray bullet found it's way through the windows or doors. They were at it until 12:30 or later. More guns than fireworks. I brought the New Year in reading a book! We're kinda boring like that. I usually sleep!

You are not quite as boring as us. We slept right through the passing of the old year. I remember the days when it was an event.

Pecan pie!!!!
I love cuddling with the pups at night... unless Albariño starts kicking me, then it’s not so nice.
Happy New Year my friend!

I love the little things. Mandy and I have a strong bond because I was with her every day during Bobby's last illness. Oddly enough, she and Jose aren't jealous of each other and sleep entwined next to me. Ted is stuck with Penny.

A nest of dogs sounds very nice, and cute. They were lucky you had no fireworks in your neighborhood, I know how much they upset most dogs. My neighborhood had a fireworks show just a few houses away and quite loud. On the 4th of July it's usually the guy across the street blasting the fireworks.

Little Mandy cries if I leave the house. It is heartbreaking.

I am enjoying them. They keep Jose if we are gone so they all like each other and don't mind togetherness. However, when they are all together, they act like three little kids. Jose and Mandy sleep in a pile on me
and Penny is odd girl out. I am grateful for no loud noises.

Are these dogs new and permanent additions to your household? I missed where you said you got them. Sleeping with dogs -- sounds great.

My DIL and the grand daughters went to Phoenix for a few days. When Adrienne went there for a conference she fell absolutely in love with
that place and wants to get her masters degree at the University. They have escaped the cold spell which is a nice bonus. I enjoy the dogs, especially Mandy.
