Every Day in the Life of Jose'

This little dog is high maintenance. I never knew the
little ones were so fragile or maybe it is just his
particular breed. So far we have spent four hundred dollars in vet bills and have not addressed his psychological problem.

About once a week, he wakes us up trying to get as close
to us as possible. He lays on top of us and licks us to
death. Sometimes he hurls his little body at us. We
can soothe him with petting and cuddles. His former
mistress died and I think he must have been in the house
with her when it happened and he wants to be sure that
we have not met with the same fate. Ted covers up his
head and ignores the bombardment but I usually end up
with him sleeping in my arms.

He is a fun, sweet lovable little guy. It is almost like
having a cat which I can't have because of family members who are highly allergic.

Adrienne has the worst cat allergies. By the way, she is
coming for lunch today. She doesn't go back to school
until next week. We are having her favorites, roast beef
and coconut pie.

My niece Jethrene had a boxer who was the sweetest dog ever but had some issues too. She had separation anxiety and was very clingy. and we're talking about a 50lb+ dog who wants to sit in yer lap. she also had a "nervous stomach" and could only tolerate Science Diet and mild snacks. My hat is off to you for taking Jose in. I really admire those who open their hearts to homeless animals.

Jose is such a little sweetheart but he has his issues. He is four and
he feels more secure as time goes on.

animals who are adopted from shelters need extra attention. Make no mistake, they are traumatized. Our Brunswick was dumped at the shelter and got pneumonia and a volunteer took him home. When she had nursed him back to health, she took him back to the shelter. Can you imagine his shock to find himself back there? It took him a while to trust us. It was worth the wait. I don't get over losing my animals. I am still grieving.

I don't get over losing fur babies either. We love our dogs so much
and they are part of the family. Jose is going to have to go on a diet,
he weighs nearly l2 lbs. He is probably over eating to feel more secure.

A relative had a series of toy poodles, and the last one was high strung and became almost uncontrollable, wouldn't even walk on a leash. I know part of his problem was the tension at home, since there'd been two deaths in the family and life was difficult there. Also he wasn't really getting exercise. Having Rex is probably one of the best things for Jose, along with his humans.

Jose and I walk every morning that it isn't too cold. I think he spent
a lot of time in the shelter before we got him. I would suspect that it
was an interval before he was rescued. Sad.

The young lady knows what's good! Did you mention to the vet how restless he can get? That's sounds like a tough case to diagnose.

If I had it to do over again, I would just buy a Yorkshire Terrier because they are a much sturdier breed. I have had two and I would not
get the teeny tiny ones. Jose needs us and we love him and are committed
to him now.
