We are a small town embedded in a big city.It is One of the
things I love about living where I do. There is a circle in one of our neighborhoods where all the five families living in this area are more than friends. They formed a village that supports each member. When their children were growing up, they loved and counselled them all without regard to boundaries. They get together for holidays and shared recreation and share skills they can contribute. It is a shining beacon in a selfish world.
I do not live in this circle but I am fortunate to know some of the women who do. They formed an investment club for women with absolutely no input from husbands. They accepted myself, my daughter in law, and two of my friends into the club. I have belonged for two years, almost three, and it has been a revelation to see how they have created a village to nourish all of the families within.
It is not a monetarily exclusive club, we each contribute twenty five dollars a month. We are doing well financially as a club but the friendship and learning about stocks is why I enjoy it so much.
Every December, we celebrate with lunch out and no business meeting. It is always fun.
With so much acrimony in the world, I thought you might like hearing about kindness and friendship and how a group of families has made it work.
