My grandaughter who is something of a no nonsense tech genius will be going to Austin, Texas for the summer as a paid intern to Samsung. It is all about semi conductors. They hire from their intern pool so it may lead to a job with them.

I love that child so much. She is a natural beauty who never wears makeup and cares little about clothes. She is at home in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. She does not have a vain bone in her body, which is unfortunate because she could be drop dead gorgeous with very little effort. This year marks the last of her hard engineering courses at O.U. and next year she will graduate with an easy academic load. She saved the easy courses until last.

I am awe stricken by the young women of today. I met a pretty young psychiatrist last week and just couldn't believe she had her medical degree and her residency behind her and was already working in her field. Laura, my grand daughter who is in New York city amazes me with her willingness to live hand to mouth until she can get a foot hold in fashion design. These girls have so much more energy and drive to succeed than I had at the same age.

I am proud of them all.
