There is That

I am sitting here drinking coffee and beating myself up because I look so old!! 92 is not nothing, it is very disturbing to look in the mirror and see an old woman and feel all the aches and pains commensurate with aging. As far as I know, no one in my family has lived this long without becoming dotty. My grandmother lived to be 91 but was not in her right mind when she died. I can console myself with the thought that I am not alone, I have great family and great neighbors. I also have Jose who is one of the most loyal and loving dogs I have ever had even though he wants his own way about a lot of things. Such as taking a walk in the snow although it is over his head. We have not lost power and that is a biggie.ten inches of snow and a nine inch tall dog! go figure. I am having thoughts of how nice it would be to go to Hawaii for a week. Perhaps when the virus abates and we have our second shots. Ted and I are starved for some kind of vacation. we had planned a trip to New Orleans but somehow Hawaii sounds better right now. Stay safe and stock up on food and water.

How wonderful to have him for a bed partner still!!!

When I was very little, a beloved neighbor made me a sock animal. I named him Willie after her husband. Willie and I were inseparable. Once in 1957 on a family trip to Washington, D.C., I left him inadvertently in my hotel bed, and I have forever loved the Willard Hotel housekeepers who found him and returned him to me in a shoe box via parcel post.

Willie and I have aged similarly. Our outward colors have faded. We are both frayed here and there. Willie no longer has his hat, and my knees aren't what they once were. Still, inwardly, we are exactly the same.

Physically, faces and bodies change over time, but soul spirits stay as young as they always were. I stopped paying attention to physical images long ago. Looking in the mirror, what's inside shining out from the eyes, heart, and spirit are all that matter.

You, dear Jeri, shine bright like the sun!!

Thank you Marta, you always lift my spirits. You still have Willie?

Two vacations sounds like heaven. We have been getting out so seldom that I relish a trip to the grocery store...wearing two masks, I might add and Ted has not even had that solace. Our snow has melted after a warm up yesterday.

Compared to now, back in the 1950s and 60s men and women looked so old for their age, and they didn't live as long. There's 70 year-olds who wish they were as youthful as you are at 92.

Thanks for the compliments!! It reminds me of the time when the grandchildren were looking at old pictures and said, "Who is that man with you grandma?" I told them that was Papa Ted and they could hardly believe the luxuriant brown haired guy was really him.

You are most definitely of sound mind. I wouldn't know your age based on your communications. I think it's a gender thing, but I don't think I look as old as I am. There's a joke that says guy A sees a guy B who he went to high school with. A goes up to B and says, "You were in my class in high school". B says, "What did you teach?"
It's not my fault I feel like I'm 35 from the knees up. You are still my rile model for aging along with Martin. Hang in!

Fredo and Martin and I are still hanging in. Martin is less moody than we are and more optimistic. Teal is approaching our age but has been better to her body than we have. The dancing paid off. The thing that I fear most is losing cognition.

Planning a trip sounds wonderful, and Hawaii would be so green — and warm. But I think the weather improves after March if you want lots of sun. What about 2 vacations?
