Organizing Your Life

Every publication that I receive has an article about how to organize and declutter for Spring, Life is by definition untidy so we can only do so much. The main thing I want to declutter is Ted's space and I am rarely allowed in there. He calls it his studio but does not do a lot of painting any more. He stores his tools in there and of course his health is such that he can no longer use any of them. The frustrating thing is that if it was cleared out and with a little remodeling, it could become a lovely big bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. Not that we need it but it would be a big selling point when Linda sells the house. Besides it would be a fun project. The adjacent pantry could be the bath and there is already water there and a big sink for washing paint brushes etc. At one point in our marriage, Ted was flipping houses and we loved the process of taking something that looked hopeless and making it shine. Alas, those days are over. It was a fun time in our lives. Creativity has it's rewards.

It is hard to forget because the freezer is in there too and I have to infiltrate it almost daily. It could have gone in the garage and then I could forget about the mess. I did get rid of an antique trunk, given to me by an older friend. My niece married her grandson and I was able to give it to my niece as part of her heritage.

Spring cleaning time for me begins when the temperature in NW Ohio gets warm enough to open all my windows and let fresh air inside. What a joyful day that will be!!

The house smells so good afterward! I usually start with the back porch that gets so cluttered in winter.

It must be a temptation when there's old supplies probably ready to be tossed, but some of us (ack, me) are so resistant to letting anyone else handle the stuff. One of my sisters has the opposite problem, her husband tosses out stuff then doesn't remember doing it.

I usually start a donation box for the Salvation army and put it in the garage. I have so many things someone else might be able to use but that have not worked for me. We also leave things at the curb.

Sounds like a lot of work! I'd be happy if Donna cleaned up her clutter in the living room. Her craft room is a different story. I gave her one of those small desktop personal heater for Christmas in 2018 and she forgot she has it. I had to show her the order in Amazon history, but it still can't be found and she won't let me in there to "help". So if Ted won't let you into his studio maybe you can forget about it.
