In marketing it’s smart to use a name everyone remembers. For example, the man who sold the domain name Hatred.com to Milos Yiannopolous for $150k uses a distasteful nickname — uglydork — on the industry forum. Hard to mix him up with anyone else. (Speaking of Hatred.com, it’s still registered under his name; I wonder if the buyer requested that he leave it that way.)

I ran across an author on Amazon going by the amazing name of Sir Adam Prockstem Smith. I forget what I was searching for when I found his ridiculous short works, but I have to say he has produced quite a few over a short period and gotten them some notice. That name certainly helps. And he doesn’t let his lack of grammar stop him, either.

Speaking of standard English, my little sister sent me a remarkable page from a local paper for what she said was a junior college area or something — it had a couple of opinion page articles by students. It was fairly amazing word salad. One of them used the word abysm — a word I may have read once in my entire life, probably in some medieval book. Maybe this writer got the word from some Bible version he prefers, or the Book of Mormon. (My sister lives in Utah.) Otherwise I don’t know where you’d find this word today. Which just goes to show me that I should read the writings of odd groups every so often, to find odd stuff. On forums I visit that have a lot of British people as members, I was surprised to find they use the word whilst a lot. I liked that.
