Sisters and a Bat

My sisters - 3 of them, the 4th lives in Utah -- and I met to celebrate 2 birthdays by having brunch. It was really nice, my oldest sister always picks good food places, and we got to talk about women stuff since no husbands were invited.

I have one sister who has left doctoring, and now manages some insurance unit where she decides stuff about treatment. One sister is now retired from nursing, and one sister traded nursing for coding and records, where she tells the doctors where they must fix their records. All patient care is behind them, which I'm glad of. Direct care was hard for people like them because they are extremely conscientious people and the responsibility weighed on them. The retired sister says she still has nightmares about emergencies. She, like the other nurse, did trauma & ICU work. I'm happy that now she can spend her time doing line dancing instead.

That same sister, Jan, just got rid of a squirrel that had gotten into their house and was spending time behind the walls, somehow. It got in wherever their dryer hose goes to the outside, having chewed through a bunch of plastic to be able to crawl in and run around. So after humane traps that caught 2 raccoons and a different squirrel, they finally caught the right one and then replaced their dryer components with all metal.

Today feels great, I am freed from the storage units (and their cost). I now will be going through the boxes slowly. I don't know if I already said this, but there was a dead bat in the 2nd storage unit. Apparently they fly in the holes in the top of the building and can't get out. Made it interesting.

Even in the suburbs. It's surprising how much there is. I have been curious in recent years where the animals manage to hide and sleep.

Glad you can get organized and probably have a good garage sale or something of the sort. Sisters are so much fun because we share our memories. Patient care is exacting and heart breaking so it is nice that your sisters now have other areas of interest although compassionate and knowledgeable doctors are still needed.

Yes, we could have stayed there all day remembering old stuff. I loved it.

Lovely to have a large family. I had one sister and she's gone now. I have first cousins and we talk but they don't travel. Sounds like you had a lovely time. we had a palm rat who was hard to get rid of. He chewed through our dishwasher hose. We'd replace it, a critter person would plug up holes, but he always missed something. This happened about 5 times and the cost was mounting up. Finally, he got the kitchen access totally protected. And I have a normal kitchen again.

I recall the palm rat travails. For some reason it reminds me of a Graham Greene novel, where palm rats were regular visitors. Urgh.

Sounds like a lovely time, especially hearing about someone else's squirrel problems. Which part of Utah does she live in? I'll be driving through there in a few weeks, can think about her if I drive through her area.

Roughly central part of the state, there's a dinosaur museum there.

Dead bats aren't great to deal with nor are squirrels dead or alive.
