Rain

Nothing but more rain here. The day before yesterday, my basement flooded -- as did the basements of many others I heard from. So mopping it up took a lot of the day.

The sump pump also needs a new motor, so it was overwhelmed. The landlord's brother came over eventually and began pumping out the water that had filled the sump area, but he needed convincing that the water all over the basement had come from somewhere else -- the side wall. Apparently the french drain system that circles the house couldn't keep up with the storm.

I guess this is how nature intends to help me downsize in order to move out. As you're throwing out old boxes of papers and books that are wet, and you run across boxes of old glassware you're apt to want those gone too. A lot went into the car for Goodwill.

Water leakage and drainage problems are such a hassle because the cause/source is not always obvious. And the solution isn't always easy or cheap.

We have had 3 rainy days in a row but we are happy because it is usually so dry. Congratulations on getting rid of some of the clutter!!

It is rainy season here--every afternoon 2-3 inches within an hour and then the humidity and temperatures go HIGH--welcome to summer in Fort Lauderdale--I love it!
