Glassware, Books

Well, the man next door has been putting his trash out at the curb for the last 2 weeks! Maybe he couldn’t keep taking his lawn clippings to work.

I’m in the middle of selling things of mine. Milk glass just sold, hopefully soon some more. I've got ruby glass and pink glass, a little table and that vanity I couldn’t unload before… and bags — and bags — and bags of books and DVDs. These last I take straight to the bookstore, I just hope they don’t decide to cut me off and stop buying books from me. You get pitifully little for them, but it’s immediate cash.

Money is tight. Small sales of personal items and furniture make me feel calmer, and I’ll be glad when I have more room here, anyway. I realized I have at least 5 tall bookcases I could do without, especially now that I’m emptying some of them. I do intend to move someday, and as it is now it would be very difficult.

I put an ad in CL to give away an old loveseat I didn’t use which was just taking up space. It’s gone now, a couple of girls came and got it, and I like the back room much more now that there’s more room.

The bane of my existence is Ted's workroom which is full of tools and hobby things. He no longer works or makes jewelry so I would like to
get rid of it all!! Congratulations on de-cluttering.

I do still have a bunch of my friend's stuff here, taking up my room. It is hard when you can't throw away someone else's things.

18 years ago I got rid of everything I didn't NEED as an example--did I really NEED 4 coffee mugs? 2 can openers? Cds? DVDs? Playbills? 16 pens? Clothes I haven't worn in more than a year? And so on--amazing how little I have left to worry about! I really didn't need an 8 place setting dinnerware!

Less worry is a great reason to declutter.

I'd love to get rid of everything in the garage, which now resembles a third world slum, but Ed wants to keep everything.

I remind myself that the basement could flood, or something, so the less there is, the better.
