Dick Tracy's Acid Trip?

When I was a kid I mostly ignored the Dick Tracy cartoon strip because it contained such unpleasant grotesques as villains (at this time I think my preference was for silver age Superman, Batman), but does anybody remember when Dick Tracy was captured and injected with LSD? He went on a seriously bad trip that went on and on, and the artwork for it that was splashed across the colored Sunday front page of the paper was memorable. His sufferings were pretty dramatic, as I recall. I wish I could find some images online.

It may have been around 1969, or very early 70s.

I’ve heard lately that the Brits have just about had it with Americans because we’re prone to putting cups of water in the microwave to heat it for tea or coffee. They find this disgusting, which is amusing because I have breakfast problems with them too. Do you realize they eat beans on toast? Those — those brigands. And lots of them probably eat bacon disturbingly soft as well.

…If only national disagreements consisted of this sort and no more. That reminds me, I want to order a DVD of The Battle of Britain (1969) because I can’t find it online — unless very blurry and low-quality on Youtube. Has Ian McShane in it, from Deadwood.

Tomorrow I meet my sisters for a birthday, and we’re going to a champagne brunch at a restaurant in what was the old train station. It’s really pretty there, I’ll have to take pictures. I haven’t been there since 2002. Impossible to forget because the man I went there with died 2 weeks later. He lived in Canada. I did not find out until a year later when the mounties emailed me.

Since I don't like american breakfasts, I fell in love with the baked beans and tomatoes that the Brits serve. But toast racks..no way, it just guarantees cold toast and I hate eggs. Would love to share champagne brunch with you.

I know what you mean about the English breakfast. The 'bacon' was what we'd call ham, so it's meatier and yes, limper, than our what they'd call 'streaky bacon.' And I don't think theirs is smoked or has hickory smoked flavor - seems lie it was brined, so different flavor.

And the breakfast sausage up in Yorkshire where I've visited doesn't have sage in it and our usual spices, and I got homesick for Jimmy Dean's version.

That sounds like an interesting story about the Canadian guy.
