Winter Blue-artwork

I spent a relaxing day yesterday painting this. It is in acrylics.
My son sent me a set of watercolor crayons for Christmas. They were not wrapped, so I saw it when I opened the box. (Shipped by the store.) I wanted these and refused to pay over $50 for a set myself, so I added it to my 'wishlist'. I am dying to try them out. I don't know if I should wrap it and put it under my tree- or go ahead and use them for a painting. I don't know how well I will like them. A lot of new things I have tried, I love. There are things that I tried- like oil pastels, that I do not like as well, and maybe it is because I don't know how to use them properly.

It is so pretty and has the spirit of Christmas.

I ALMOST went cheesy and painted another post with a wreath attached... almost.

Seagulls do move around quite a bit. We get them in Colorado in the summer when they come to follow the farm plows turning up earthworms, and we all know the story of how they solved the Mormon cricket plague. There is even a statue of a sea gull in Salt Lake City near the Mormon Tabernacle.

Things have just been super, super busy lately. I just haven't had much time to do blogging. Mostly it is the grading for my classes. I don't have time to squeeze any of it in at my new job. I am lucky if I get to do any on my lunch hours.

Very nice, but it makes me shiver! I can't remember: Have you taken art classes? Very professional.

No- no art classes although I think I could benefit from taking a few. If I lived closer to Jondude I would definitely take classes from him. The local art guild in Brandon offers mostly watercolor classes.

How pretty! That bird is thinking about whether it's too late to fly to warmer climes.

Hmm.. do seagulls migrate? Your touch of humor definitely made me think.

Love the sense of snow falling, Dottie. What a nice painting — so tranquil and peaceful and relaxing to look at! Reflects the spirit in which you painted it.

We in Northwest Ohio will not be having a white Christmas this year, and I'm missing snow a bit. Thanks for the gift of your snow scene!
