I still have not found a fix for my PC issue but I found a way to work around it. I changed my settings so that my PC never hibernates or goes to sleep. No sleep- no black screen.
My bank was bought out by another bank. All of my payment notifications went to my old bank via the bill payment feature, but the new bank does not offer this, so I had to reset all of my statement delivery options on the creditor’s websites.
Then the bank mailed me a new debit card. I immediately changed all of the auto-payments to reflect the new card info (on May 30) only to find out last week that the new card will not work until June 17. Because the wrong card was entered, several payments were declined including my auto insurance. Of course, I did not learn that the new card was not effective until 6/17 until after my auto insurance carrier threatened to cancel my policy for non-payment of premiums. Then, they would not allow me to re-enter the new debit card info for next month’s payment because that card had already been declined and was deemed no good. Several calls later that was resolved…
I went online to my bank yesterday because my SSD was due to be deposited only to learn that Citi Financial had taken $688 out of my account just before the SSD deposit hit the bank. The worst part is that this was an unauthorized transaction- and resulted in a $35 overdraft fee. The withdrawal was for someone else’s credit card, but of course, after my SSD deposit, they paid the $688. I had to take my Citi credit card and a copy of my Citi Mortgage statement to the bank and show them that this was NOT my Citi Card account number and NOT my mortgage account. They will reverse the transaction and the fee, but it will take 24-48 hours. How do I know that this error will not happen again next month- and how did this happen to begin with?
The final straw is that my HO insurance carrier is pulling out of Florida. My HO Insurance terminates June 24, and because my house and roof are more than 15 years old (they are 16 years old), I am unable to obtain a new policy. If I cannot find someone to insure me, I will go into a huge, high-risk pool where HO insurance will cost me as much as $3000 a year. I cannot afford another $250 a month in insurance.
Now you know what has kept me away so much. Problems, problems…
