No Point Whatever ...

This is something I painted. It was an About.com monthly art assignment. I will sometimes do these assignments if I have not painted for a while (proof positive that I am still an amateur.) When I have not painted in a while, they get me "kick-started" again. The assignment was to paint in the style of LS Lowry, famous for his "match stick" people. He painted mostly city scapes, but I can't paint straight lines so I chose a beach. The interesting thing was the color restrictions: Ochre, orange-red, a dark blue, white and black.

I need to dye my hair. I have an inch of gray showing. Yuch!

I am in awe of your talent. Wish I half, and I would be "Grandma Hopkins".

These truly are 'matchstick' people. They have no details but I tried to make them look 'active' by their poses.

How in the world did you do these little people? I love it.

That's amazing how you can paint people like that!

It was good practice on perspective. I see after the fact where I went wrong but it has motivated me to paint something similar- not a beach, but lots of people in the same painting.

I really like it, especially your match stick people - they're small, but they are doing interesting things, even the ones off in the distance.

Those people took forever to paint! This is the first assignment I did from this website that took longer than one afternoon.

I did not initially notice that Lowry did not paint shadows. I wonder why?
