I've been watching this British crime series and I am glad that I don't live in Bradfield, England, likely a fictitious name for a place with some of the most gruesome murders on television. It is called "Wire in the Blood," about psychologist Tony Hill, who assists the police in solving murders. Don't know if any of you caught this series when it was first televised, and while it is excellent, it is also horrific. I have four out of 23 episodes left to watch.
Have you heard of Flash Mobs? There is the awful version, the likes of which Philadelphia has recently suffered. People, usually hundreds of teens, receive text messages and twitters telling them to meet up a certain place where they start riots and general mayhem. Then, there is another kind- the wonderful kind that I can only hope to witness some day. Performers meet up at public places like malls, train stations, public squares and supermarkets and do live performances. They can be anything from choirs to dance troupes to bands and many of their performances are outstanding. I've watched several on YouTube. They magically appear out of the crowds, and when the performance is finished, blend back in again.
I love watching these- they build from a few performers into many, and you just can never anticipate who in the crowd of onlookers is actually a performer. Flash mob participants are young and old, children and grandparents. I love the sheer joy of these performances. One of the best ones is a choir performing the Hallelujah chorus in a food court:

Then, there is the performance in the Antwerp train station a few years ago- one of the first. No, Flash Mobs are not an American phenomenon- it is a world-wide phenomenon.

Oh, I wish I knew how to embed YouTube videos. I have tried but always fail. I hope you copy and paste these in a browser. They are definitely worth seeing. Sheer joy!
