This dates back many years and I just posted it to a contest on Facebook. The contest is run by an organization that raises money for animal shelters.
I don't eat enough fruit. Apples are excellent for many health related reasons, but for some reason, I just don't like eating most fresh fruit. I don't like the tartness or something...
Well, I love dried fruit, so I bought six pounds of apples and dried half of them. I will have to dry the other three pounds because I ate half of my first batch within 24 hours. It was just so good! I don't treat them with chemicals so they brown a bit when I dry them. (They can be dried with or without their skins. These had the skin on them.) I have something called 'Fruit Fresh' that prevents them from browning but I did not use it. It is mostly dextrose and absorbic acid. I still have one bag of dried apples in the fridge, so I guess I will dry the rest over the weekend. Maybe I will pick up some apricots and bananas to dry too, although to dry bananas, you really need to use the Fruit Fresh!
A lot of fruit can be dried: papyas, pineapples, pears, cherries. They are delicious dried.
That is weird: I like dried fruit but not fresh fruit?
