Chasing the Moon

image

This weekend we had another "Super Moon"- a moon that appears larger because it is nearer to the earth. That happens when we are in the middle of, or the narrow, central portion of the moon's elliptical path. Here in central Florida, we have had thunderstorms and rain clouds filling the skies both day and night, and try as I may, I could not get a good shot of the moon without all of the clouds and haze.

I could not sleep, and at about 3 AM looked out again. The clouds had cleared from the moon but I still could not get a clear, slow shot. No detail- no craters. I have got to learn how to take slow-speed pictures.

Is anyone following the weather? Last week, massive flooding in India and Pakistan with hundreds, possibly thousands dead or lost, but definitely thousands left homeless. This week, it is the flooding in Alberta, Canada. Our super storm last year.... Atlas shrugged sending ripples through the earth.

Seems like a lot of weather events these days are 'record-setting' and I don't think that's anything to be proud of. When I first started making quilts, I chose dark fabric colors because they reminded me of walking outdoors on a moonlit night with a few clouds. Hugs to you, Dottie.

Yes, and I do believe climate change is the root cause.

It looked absolutely the same to me.

It was the largest as it rose- and looked significantly bigger in western Europe than it did in the USA because by the time the sun set here, we were further out in the orbit.Still, it was large.

Global warming may eventually see human beings go the same way as the
prehistoric creatures. We need to mend our ways.

Global warming? But the GOP insists the concept of global warming is a figment of the Democratic imagination.

We were lucky as the sky was clear with a heavy frost last night ,the moon was certainly bright.
Watched the floods on tv news , seems to me more and more things are going wrong with this climate change

Absolutely. Intelligent minds know global warming is a problem.
