I'm Baaack!

So many posts to catch up on! But first, I had a wonderful time on my cruise. I ate too much, spent too much, and just generally indulged too much (but did not drink too much- three alcoholic beverages the entire 5 days.) Yes, a cruise is a wonderful way to relax and do nothing.
Leaving Port Canaveral was a bit rocky. It stormed all night, but the next day was cloudy but beautiful. Our first stop was Coco Cay, an island owned by the cruise line. The next day, we were of to Nassau.
Our day in Nassau was lovely with temperatures in the low 80's. I wanted to sight see. My girlfriend wanted to shop. She won out, hence, the "spent too much." Oh well, Christmas is coming and most of the things I bought will make great gifts. I bought myself a beautiful mystic topaz pendant. I love mystic topaz! They are so bright and colorful- they reflect blue, green, red, purple all within a single gem.
Today, I must attend a change of watch ceremony. I always end up the event photographer. They like me doing this not just because I clean up the photos before posting them, but because I make sure everyone has access to them so that the various flotillas can download the images of their officers and members.
Today, I will wear a new insignia for the first time. I am now a branch chief at national level. Sounds pretty impressive, but in all honesty, all I will do is publish a departmental newsletter. I like doing newsletters, and I am pretty darn good at it and not shy about saying so. :-)
I will catch up on posts later. Right now, I have to shower and get my uniform ready.
P.S.: I am the one in purple- same dress that I wore at the AUX convention.

Sounds like you had a great time. Did you take lots of interesting pictures to paint?

Neat photo--I'm wondering how? 100 cruises per week?!!!!!!!!!! That's 14 each day. I had no idea. As much as I've convinced myself I wouldn't like to take one, I must confess, I'm considering the possibility. I think I prefer hiking a Hawaiian volcano or a Utah arch, but perhaps once in my life, I could do a cruise. Your opinion, Ms. Expert (along with Jeri)?

It's nice to hear of a good cruise after that recent nightmare over on this side of the country. I'm sure there are lots of successful cruises, but the problem ones get all the attention.

Considering nearly 100 cruises leave U.S. ports every week, I think the one that caught national attention did so because it was a complete fluke.

No pirates, but one sad and lonely Elvis impersonator. What a weirdo!

A cruise is such a break from the real world.
