This and That

We have a tropical storm moving through our area. It is a named storm, 'Debby'. The rain is endless and the winds have been howling. After three or four days of rain the storm is finally slowing, but Tampa Bay still has had 6 to 9 foot seas. That is beyond "small craft advisory'! While the wind is not appreciated, the rains are welcome. We are still experiencing a drought.

Florida is purging "non-citizen" voters from its roles. They are engaged in a battle with the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security. Over 90% of the alleged "non-citizen" voters are democrats, most are poor and are minorities, and many are valid, eligible voters. I live in such a backward state!

We hear daily news about Zimmerman and the "stand your ground" shooting. I am sick to death of hearing about it! The guy is a killer. Had he not followed and confronted Trayvon Martin, the boy would still be alive. I am glad they charged him and his wife with perjury but I doubt that in the end either will be convicted of anything.

I have a new instant dislike in movies- the damn blue filter used to create 'atmosphere'. It strips all of the color out and leaves everything looking flat and dark...and blue. It is so overused that I now hate it and dislike a movie as soon as I see the blue filter in the opening scenes. How good can a movie be any good if the filming relies on cheap cinematic tricks? The blue filter has been around for decades. Just this weekend I noticed it was used when filming "Blade Runner" in 1982. I don't object to the blue too much in these older movies, but in recent movies it is just a cheap, overused trick. British movies, particularly the grittier British crime series and movies overuse the cyan filter which does not leave a blue cast but still mutes the colors unrealistically.

I think a part of what has depressed me so damn much is the anniversary of my son's death earlier in June. This year was particularly bad because my oldest son hurt me so much. I can't wait to disengage somewhat from the Auxiliary. I need to get back to painting and writing and having time for friends.

Thanks for "catching us up". Life's a ##### sometimes. Keep your head up. Do the things you want. Enjoy the good life.

Yes, I will soon be resigning from my offices within the Auxiliary to make more time for me.

I hope you stay safe with the weather, and find some friends to hang out with soon to help you through.

I definitely need to spend more time with friends!

well not sure how to handle this. But something need to be done there.
I think that you should shut off all ties and just be more concern on you.
Enjoy yourself and get lost in the world of art.You love to paint?do it.
Do not feel guilty. We all have some form of problem but then we have to work it out.
Dottie come first and the rest can wait.Good luck and yes everyone is concern.
First I will get rid of the Auxiliary. But that is your choice.Too much time is taken there.
Have a nice evening.Loved the movie Blade Runner.

Yes, I really need to back out of the Auxiliary somewhat. I need more time to paint and write.

Hugs to you, Dottie. June will always be your month of remembrance, and although you'll never forget, I hope time will smooth it out for you. Have you ever heard that saying 'time wounds all heels?' Makes me think of your surviving son.

Yes, June is always a horrid month for me.

I do worry about you and care for you. I will make it a mission to go and
vote tomorrow. I got a new voters registration card in the mail this year.
Some kids are not caring and thoughtful. It is a rotten shame that you lost
your son to suicide.

Yes, especially the one who was not afraid to love me! I miss him.

It does seem like politics in Florida is quirky. I wonder if some of it has to do with the fact that so many people who live there are from diffrent regions (liberal, moderate, and conservative) from across the country. It does seem to result in really interesting twists, though.

I know what you mean about the movie technique. It seems like whenver they start using something new, it gets overused. I see that starting to happen with the shaky, quick-moving, real-life shooting that is happening on a lot of movies and shows. It loses its effect, though, when it is used everywhere.

I know that it has been a tough year, but know that there are so many people out there (myself included) who worry and care about you.

I know what you mean by the shaky 'real-life' technique. I hate all of the cheap tricks. Some methods of filming are spectacular and beautiful while others cheapen a film.
