His House/our House

I'm having some conflict in jumping into this house being mine. On one hand, I know since we married, it's "ours" but on the other, it is still very much his and I feel kind of like I'm invading his space while finding places to put things & the like.

Maybe this is another form of "cold feet" (yet after the wedding! haha). I mean, he's given me the "go ahead" to do "whatever I feel is needed", yet....I just don't have a comfortable feeling about it........

Am I weird? (hey! don't agree so quickly!! :P)

Okay, girl, you have to settle in. I went through it, and as you change the house, painting and decorating things together, it will get to be yours. Trust me. Give it t-i-m-e! That's the most important thing...also not getting mad just because he doesn't leave the toothpaste the way you like it.

I can understand your concern. It will take some time, I'm sure for it to feel like "our" house.

When Mary and I got married, I moved into her house, and she had a fourteen year old kid. It took a LONG time for the place to feel like it was mine. Especially since the kid used to say things to me like, "That's my dad's garage." (His dad died when the boy was eight.)
