The library I work at is hiring. The job posting is a full page detailing application requirements and the job description.
I emailed it to the two local high schools.
Then the resumes flooded in (and I do mean flooded), most of them ignoring the requirements (two copies of resume, cover letter detailing what hours they can work).
It turns out that one high school announced the job over the intercom, leaving out all the details. And high school students aren't smart enough to go find the details apparently.
I had one resume emailed to an address that is only used for the library newsletter, with a childish email a few days later full of spelling mistakes saying they really want to get the job. Um, no, you won't even be considered.
Morons not reading the job posting.
Morons announcing a job over the intercom and leaving out all the requirements
Morons who drop off crumpled, folded resumes and act snotty while doing it.
Morons dropping off resumes with no cover letter declining to deliver one when given the chance...
The library director actually said not to tip people off to the requirements - she's using that as a way to weed down the flood of applications. If you can't read the requirements, you have no chance of working here.
At least it makes for some fun at work talking about the morons!
