Less than three miles from home on Monday, I was feeling crabby when I saw that I couldn't turn left at the usual spot. I didn't want to go to the airport, so I turned right. There were a bunch of people standing along side the road near by and I wondered why. Nothing but field there that I could see. A moment later, a plane flew very low over the road right in front of me. I read the words "United States of America" and saw the image of a flag on the side. It took a few beats before I got it.

I pulled into a parking lot and as I turned around, a man and his young son were hurrying back to their car, their faces lit with ear splitting grins. It lit up my day, too.

Air Force One is a very big plane. It was really cool to realize that the President had flown across the road just ahead of me.

It ended my day on a high note, and helped me stay patient while driving through heavy traffic around the detour.
