I don't think I have ever seen a squirrel other than in a tree or on the ground scavenging for nuts. That's a very unusual shot.
We have squirrels too but none of them are taking naps around here -- too many dogs, I guess. In Queens, squirrels used to hang out on a huge tree that reached up 6 storeys to our apartment and could be seen on our window sill in the master bathroom. Ed would draw the shade because he felt funny having the squirrels watch him. I think your little squirrel is really cute.
Yes it's really a squirrel. She is one of two babies that come every day. They chow on the seeds that fall out of the bird feeders.
