Happy Gotcha Day Bella!

I met Bella and brought her home on June 29, 2002. She was a year old, and full of energy!
Her motto was "Fetch IS Life!"

I could take her to the park and start throwing a ball for her to chase. She'd bring it back to me a couple of times, but she would take it to all the men she saw for a "real" throw. There were a few former pro-baseball players around back then and they could throw!
After a while, bring the ball over to me for another throw, but she'd go back to the guys almost immediately.

She still plays fetch, but not every day, all day. Today, we went to the library where several children read to her while I rubbed her belly. She loves her belly rubs. I can put her to sleep by rubbing her belly.

I know it's a day late, but she doesn't. Today I bought a beef heart and it's in the crock pot now. They could smell it as soon as I put the lid on the pot. They'll smell it all night long. I wonder if they'll dream about it tonight?

Bella is beautiful. Glad you have her in your life to distract you from the painful side.

Thanks Fredo - she loved her beef heart treats! All the "girls" did.

My Mom is getting bad. She called me a few times from the care center wanting to "go home." It always turned out that she eventually calmed down and they adjust her meds. In a few hours I would go visit her and she would not even remember being that way. I see her every day. This morning she called and was mean. I mean she was awful, insulting me, calling me a bad son, "where did YOU ever come from?" etc. She called me things that I never heard from her. I am getting really depressed by this.

I'm so sorry Jon. There is nothing worse than watching your mother disappear in that way. Has the doc tried any psychiatric meds? "Atypical anti-psychotics" are used a lot for the behavioral changes. They can work wonders. My mom still recognizes her home and me (only forgot me once) but this year, she forgot my birthday.
Give the kitties kisses from Auntie Cat.

Jon, There is a good chance that, ten minutes later, she has no memory of having said those things. As we age, their cerebral cortex, which does most of the 'social filtering" of what we say, sometimes fails to work as well as it used to work. It probably isn't about anything but frustration and feeling helpless. You are getting it right. She just does not know it. hang in there.

I want to rub her belly too.

She would roll over as soon as she saw you, too. Instead of asking all the men to throw a ball for her, now she asks everyone to rub her tummy!
