AM I a Poet..and Didnt Know It???

Today, for the first time in my life I decided to try my hand at writing poetry...something I have never thought of doing before. I dont think I've read a poem in years, but there was one poem I've always loved which I memorized back in grade school.

For some reason I remembered it and was amazed that I could still recite it word for word after all these years. It is called The Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

That's when I got the idea, maybe I should try and write one myself.

And this is what I came up with. I am posting it here for two reasons...the first one is to get critique (please be kind) and the second reason is I would love some suggestions on an appropriate title for my poem...all I seem to come up with are cliches.

Of course, a nice picture or two would add to the mood...I hope you enjoy it...I feel pretty proud of it myself considering it is the very first time I've ever tried.

As green as the grass, as blue as the sky,
As bright as sunbeams that shine from on high.
As soft as the glow from the moon up above,
that glistens on petals of flowers I love.

The song of the birds, the buzz from the bees,
The purring of kittens, who wouldnt it please?

The crispness of dawn, the warmth of the day,
the cooling breezes are sure on their way.

The lapping of waves on shimmering sand,
the rivers, the lakes, and mountains that stand,
majestic and great, so awesome, so grand,
who wouldnt be happy, this earth was well planned.

The beauty of snow in winter so white,
the colors of spring, our hearts they delight.

The wonders of nature so glorious to see,
for all to behold, who ever they be.
