Another Episode in My Saga of Living in Jakarta

This one happened on Mother's day this year...I wrote this article and posted it over at the other blog site...thought I'd post it here for those of you who like my "living in Jakarta Stories". This one is definitely not my most pleasant experience here.

I dont want to put a damper on anyone's Mother's day, but as I'm writing this it is still Saturday night in your corner of the world, and its 7.30am Sunday morning here in Jakarta.

I always wake up around 6am every morning regardless of what day of the week, to do my "cat chores". That means feeding all the indoor cats, and a few of the outdoor strays sitting outside very patiently waiting for their breakfast...and of course the obligatory (yucky part) cleaning of the three litter boxes that have been used to capacity during the night.

This morning did not start out too well for me....I'm still upset right now so I needed to tell someone.

When I went outside I could smell this overwhelming stench in front of the garage. As I walked out, I saw scattered all over the area between the garage and the front gate, a heap of semi-dry cat pooh.

I had this problem once before.....I know exactly who did it last time and I know it was him again this time. The old guy who lives straight across the street, directly in front of my house. He thinks because I feed a few strays on the street, I am responsible for what all the stray cats on the street do.

There are no gardens (on this street) or maybe one or two here and there so the strays use what ever they find to go to the toilet in. In most cases they will use the soil in the big potted plants...or they do their business on the street.

When it rains or when its storm season, many of these cats crawl into peoples roofs for shelter and as a consequence, they sometimes do their business in the gutters.

Well this dirty old man must have collected about a months supply of cat shit in a plastic bag and dumped the whole lot in front of my garage....AND..this time he went even further. He smeared some of the fresher ones on the padlock of my front gate...hoping of course I would not detect it quick enough and when I go to unlock the padlock, I'd have a handful of shit.

Sorry about the language, but it is what it is.

He is such a coward, he wouldnt come out of his house while I was out there throwing a hizzy fit. Being the weekend, my maid is not coming in.  I dont have her work on weekends because I like to have the house to myself. So...I had to clean the whole mess up myself. It was horrible.

How mean and nasty is that??

I also told the lady next door to tell him that I have a surveillance camera (I dont really) and when I see the footage I will prove it is him and I will report him to the street supervisor.

I lied, but I was so upset at the time, I didnt know what else to say. He wouldnt come out so I couldnt confront him there and then.

Nice start to Mother's Day for me.....but I still love my cats and all my strays....and when he's not looking, I will dump it all back on his property.
