Year in Review: the Fox

First sighting in April.

His right ear was injured over the winter.

Pancakes.

Shedding the winter coat. This is late July.

Mid-September the winter coat is all gone but his tail is growing back again.

November, his winter coat has really filled in, he looks 10 or 20 pounds heavier.

May he have a good winter with lots of field mice and squirrels and a few chipmunks.

I read that they don't like the way voles taste, but I'm guessing the foxes will eat whatever they can catch this time of year.

I love this little guy... Thanks for posting all these fantastic pictures!

You're welcome!

Third picture from the bottom. He looks like he is all tail. He is so skinny without his thick coat.

There isn't much of him inside all that fur, he's the same size as our cat but his legs are twice as long. I would love to feel his fur, but that would violate our agreement to stand back 3 feet.

Hope he has a safe winter ... I worry about him. Beautiful photos. Thanks for the gallery.

Yes, I worry about him, too. I am still amazed at how tame he is, and wonder where he learned it - just showed up one day accustomed to being around people.

Beautiful and wondrous! He loves you!

I'm glad I was 'adopted' by a fox and not a raccoon or a skunk.

Can you rent him (her?) out? I need some rabbits caught.

Love the fox!! Great shots!!
I pray he'll be fine over the winter and be there when you return....

Oh, me, too. I wish him good hunting and a warm spot to curl up in. And no wind - he hates the wind.

How adorable! What a great visitor to have. Of course, you get other great visitors too.

We hardly saw any deer this year, but late in October a few came around. Now that I know how to spot them in the river, even the fish are company.

He's beautiful but his eye markings make him look sad. One of our cats got her ear torn like that in a cat fight.
comment by nittineedles on Dec 17, 2011 7:04 PM ()
He does look sad when his fur is all filled in. I wish we could find more of his cast off fur around the yard to send to you.

He looks good and healthy!

Once in awhile we'll notice he's limping, and I wonder what he's been up to.
