Snow! in Colorado

Remote snow watching here.

These pictures are from Colorado.

This first one is higher up in the mountains 3 or 4 more inches after I checked it earlier this morning.

This is three miles from my house. I'm a little disappointed that the snow has stopped there. Easy for me to say, sitting here in Las Vegas where it's sunny.

There was quite a bit of overnight snow in that area, and here is a trash truck equipped with a snow blade in the city near my house. I didn't realize they'd invested in the blades, I thought when I heard about the city relying on the trash trucks to help clear secondary streets, they meant just driving down the street to mash down the snow.

Here is I-80 in Wyoming near where our dear Bugg lives. You can see the snow blowing across the roadway. It blows all the time there, so it doesn't take a lot of snow to make travel interesting.

All the pictures look pretty familiar to me living here in Eastern Ontario. We still have a lot of the white stuff from the storm last week. But on the bright side, it makes everything look so clean - hides a multitude of sins. Really happy that I don't have to drive out in it anymore . . .

I'm thinking about that multitude of hidden sins up there in polar bear country where folks don't see the ground until spring.

We need some, just for the moisture.

I just looked at your road cams, almost dark there, but the roads look dry.

Now I'm sort of hoping that we don't get snow. At the botanical garden yesterday, the first bulb shoots are poking up.

I finally planted some iris roots at my place in Colorado, can't wait to see if they will prosper come spring. Here and there around the property is the odd pair of leaves from rhizomes my mother planted in 1985, but they never do anything, I think because they are too shaded. Elk and deer are supposed to not like iris. Not sure about ground squirrels.

Tee hee! I thought about you when I was in Laredo - if I went directly east from there, I'd see your house.

Love snow. Miss snow.

Colorado snow is good snow because it generally goes from lovely blankets of white to gone - no gray slush to slog around in.

I just googled "Snow in Venice" meaning Italy. Some neat snow-covered gondola photos came up.

Colorado usually gets the big storms in March and April, so it was very exciting for them.

Glad it's there and not here.

Bright and sunny today, roads are all dry. I was in your area for a huge blizzard in 1996 - I-95 near Baltimore, and I was driving from my hotel to someone's house in a Ford Focus. I was the only car on the entire huge freeway.
