The only one missing is the one that says Your mother does not work here. Clean up after yourself. I have seen it in every teachers' lounge I have been in.

And it's heartfelt every time. I have several signs here and there in my rental cabins - telling people to not smoke in the house, don't put grease or coffee grounds down the kitchen drain, don't flush certain things, don't store food in the oven. Every one of them is the result of some bone-headed decision by some former guest.

I've never named the fox because a. I have no occasion to call him and b. some day he will not come back so naming him makes him too important and c. until this year he was the only fox, so there was no confusion. I have to admit that now we have another fox (whom I call 'Busy Fox') I find myself calling this fox 'Our Usual Fox.'

My newest sign here is going to read: 'No spiked waders on the porch' after some jerk walked all over my screened porch with spikes on his shoes and made little holes all over the place in the previously lovely wood. It's really bad. (this is the kind of thing our friend Maggie could rant about)
