Not Good News

"Background checks for people wanting to buy guns in Colorado jumped more than 41 percent after Friday morning's shooting at an Aurora movie theater, and firearms instructors say they're also seeing increased interest in the training required for a concealed-carry permit.

"It's been insane," Jake Meyers, an employee at Rocky Mountain Guns and Ammo in Parker, said Monday.

When he arrived at work Friday morning — just hours after a gunman killed 12 and injured 58 others at the Century Aurora 16 theater — there already were 15 to 20 people waiting outside the store, Meyers said."

So now everyone at a movie theater or the grocery store or driving down the street is going to be armed? More than they already were, at least. This just brings us closer to heightened security everywhere.

I heartily wish this idiot from California had stayed there. Well, actually, I wish he'd never been born. Sounds harsh, but that's how I feel.

Well I HAD a watch goose (and Quackers would make a ruckus in the middle of the night even though he was shut in the garage if he heard something outside - raccoons, I think.)

We don't have a gun, but we have a billy club that sleeps by Ted's bed.

Mr. YouKnow keeps a big knife and a bowling ball by his side of the bed. A cop told me once that a hammer makes a good defensive weapon because pointing a gun at someone invites them to point one back. These days, I think I'll stick with the gun, I wouldn't want them to get close enough for me to be able to use the hammer.

We don't own no guns here. We are proud of that. My daDDy iz an old Army Ranger and he can take care of them crooks wifout shootin them. Peeple who rushed out to buy them guns are cowards. The should go stand in the corner.

Mr. Troutbend sleeps with a knife and a bowling ball by the bed. He's going to bowl 'em over.

More people armed...more chance of more people being killed. These mass murderers, I just don't understand. The least he could have done was kill himself also. Now, all these families have to live through his trial.

I'm not leaving the property. I wasn't going to before, but now for sure I'm not.

This kind of frenzy also shows the low level of intelligence of many gun lovers. There was a spike in gun buying just after Obama won the election too.

This being an election year, makes it all the more frenetic.

They have to change the gun controlled law or something.People are getting pistol hungry
comment by fredo on July 24, 2012 9:53 AM ()
I thought the Democrats were wanting more gun control, and the right-wing NRAs wanted less, but since Obama said he doesn't see the need to overreact to this situation, Republican Michael Bloomberg is saying 'policemen all over the country should go on strike until gun laws are tightened. '

Sort of like when Obama was elected--everyone was buying guns and ammunition because he was going to take their guns away---we have a wild, wild west attitude here in Florida already and it wouldn't surprise me if more people own guns than don't.

Big stinking mess, that's what it is.
