Local Scenery - Fall

Denver Broncos fans like to brag that God loves the Broncos best because he made sunsets in their colors.

The shorter mountains in the center are called the Little Sisters. They mirror the shape of Longs Peak and Mt. Meeker to the left. When I was a kid there was a fire lookout tower on top of the right-hand Little Sister.

This is Peacock Lake at sunrise, on the way to the top of Longs Peak. People start out on the long hike up there at 2 a.m. so they can get to the top and down before the afternoon lightning storms start up.

This is over by Aspen, Colorado. Maroon Bells is one of the most photographed sights in the state.

I think everyone else came up with ways to say "wow" and "beautiful" but it's worth repeating in this case! WOW! BEAUTIFUL!

For some reason this year it's not pulling at my heart strings like it usually does. Generally, coming upon a bright yellow tree against a backdrop of dark evergreens just takes my breath away, and I can't bear the thought of leaving for Las Vegas, but this year, I'm eager to get out of here. Watch, though, after a couple weeks there I'll be ready to come back.

We have to add fig newtons, a forgotten childhood treat recently rediscovered.

Yes, but not the whole grain ones. The cake part on those is nasty.

So amazing....

I have to soak up all the pretty I can, like a sponge, because things aren't so pretty in Las Vegas.

Breathtakingly beautiful scenery

Those really high altitudes like Peacock Lake literally take your breath away, not every one can handle the decreased oxygen.

How beautiful! You must live in God's country!

Where you live is nice, too. I think every state has very scenic areas, although some of them, like Nevada, take a little more looking to find.

You should frame some of these.

I have an electronic picture frame - that's the easiest way.

Thanks, Ms. Teal. We're about due for another coffee and Milano cookies chat at your place. Let us know how all the cats are.

I sure wish I knew how to incorporate photos into my blog text. I'm ready to pack up my truck and head off into the sunset!

I sure wish you did, too, because you probably have some great pictures from all your adventures and your vegetable garden. I think the hardest thing to teach someone about incorporating photos in the blog is the concept of re-sizing them to be less than 1 MB. Some digital cameras consistently store the photos as bigger file sizes (probably a higher quality photo). There may be a setting in the camera you can make to change this.

Gorgeous pictures!

Those first two are looking towards my house from about 20 miles away. I also found a weather camera down there that points this direction so if I see what might be the signs of a pretty sunset overhead, I run inside and look on the Internet to get the big picture.

Wow!

The sunsets came from real estate listings for houses down in the area where I grew up. We looked at that view of the Front Range morning, noon, and night, and I've never gotten tired of it.
