Don't worry about being gullible! At least you are not bitter or jaded!

Thanks, Dottie. Hope you are doing well. Today I had the bright idea that maybe I could photoshop some Christmas lights onto snowy pictures of my cabins. Think how much work that would save.

As u have heard... There are so many photoshopped pics around...

I don't "check up on you..." I have seen the same photos for about two years on Facebook. They have been debunked over and over again. I was just passing on what I knew. One of the photos is from a movie. The one with the curved storm cloud is so old it was attributed to Hurricane Andrew! That was almost 20 years ago and Photoshop wasn't that well developed then. LOL

Don't get me wrong, Laura, not a waste of time to see these amazing images. Wish I knew how it's done. Sorry if my comment offended you....

No, I'm just irritated that I got sucked into posting these and now I look like a gullible fool.

Indeed, as Jon notes, these dramatic photos are not authentic, rather manipulated images that took the world by storm, so to speak, during the storm. The one of waves crashing on the Statue of Liberty flew all over Facebook. They have fooled lots of people....

Sorry for wasting your time reading the post.

Well, stupid me.

Jon's right. I'm gonna have to spend some more time at snopes.com. I'd never heard of it before.
comment by steve on Dec 15, 2012 9:24 AM ()
Snopes is good for checking those "Obama is not an American" and "urgent: your cell phone number is going to be given out to telemarketers on Monday" emails. Any time someone sends you something that says: "This has been checked on snopes.com and they confirm it's true" go check it, because it never is true when they say it like that. I didn't realize that Jon questions my posts to the point of checking up on me. Boy, do I feel dumb, but I guess that's what I get for passing on something from an email.

Love the pix.

Regardless of whether they are from hurricane Sandy, according to Jon, they are still impressive.
reply by troutbend on Dec 15, 2012 10:02 AM ()
I suppose you know that every one of the photos here are from other events, NOT Sandy. Go to Snopes and check.
comment by jondude on Dec 15, 2012 6:28 AM ()
No, I didn't know that each and every one of them is from other events. Thanks for enlightening us. I didn't realize that you check all my posts on Snopes. Someone sent them to me in an email, and I thought I'd share them.
