Dog House Guests

No, this isn't about guests who are in the dog house for some reason.

Once in awhile during the summer we have a visit from some of our dog friends.

Here is a little Lhasa Apso friend whose owner was out of town for a long weekend and she left him in the care of her boyfriend. He had a fly fishing reservation so he brought the dog to our place, thinking it could wait for him in the car all day. I told him I'd watch the dog for him, go have a good time fishing.

A very nice little guy or gal, it knew how to fetch a ball and 'helped' with the vacuuming.

We never found out the name, or whether it was a girl or boy.

Nice of you to take the dog in - I hope it had more fun than the thoughtless dogsitter.

I was vacuuming (Hoovering) and the cute little doggy was pretending to attack the cleaner.

Buffy would be welcome to come for a visit, and you and Mike also.

I'll get in trouble for saying this, but I hate those kind of dogs (I can't spell the name). I will remain petless.

Stop hating anything. End of empathy lecture.

Such a cutie pie. Next time a dog chooses to live with us, I hope it is
a little one.

Rex has so much personality it takes a large body to hold it all. This morning I told Mr. Youknow to go to the store and buy some treats and other brands of food for Buddy the Not-Eating Cat because Buddy's happiness is more important than saving a few cents a can on cat food.

Cute! I would have been furious if a dog sitter had left the
dog in the car all day!

I got the impression there was sort of a power struggle going on - if she was dumb enough to expect the fishing guy to look after that dog while she was gone, as far as he was concerned the dog was just going to have to adapt itself to whatever the plans were. I'm betting he never told her what he did with her dog since it was not the worse for the wear.

He's too cute. Well, I am calling him a he. I guess you didn't think to just look?
comment by tealstar on Oct 28, 2010 8:20 PM ()
We really didn't think to look. Isn't that silly? But it was like having a person guest, one would never presume to grab them and 'look' if there was any doubt about what sex they were.

I'd rather babysit a dog than a kid. Have I mentioned I don't like children?

Same here. Someone did bring a 5 year-old once, thought he would stand quietly on the bank while the dad and grandad fished for hours. Not! I didn't get involved in that one except to make sure one of them stayed with him so he didn't wander off, fall in, and drown.

I never knew that about you but I am in your corner.

you are very kind

I also sometimes adopt the fishermen's wives while they are waiting for their husbands.

you never asked the name? That's too funny...

It was a funny deal all around. Mr. Tbend was put out that I even offered - a guy thing having to do with the attitude that if people are so stupid as to bring a dog it's not our place to help them out. He isn't much of a dog lover. Now, if it'd been a cat, he might have been all for helping out with it. As if anyone would bring a cat on a fishing trip.
