8 Day Week

Friday felt like Saturday to me, so today is a bonus day; it's an eight-day week.

Our fox still comes to visit every few days. We feed her a piece of bread torn into bits and dog biscuits, sometimes a few scraps of meat, but no bones.

If she isn't very hungry, she carries the biscuits to the edge of the yard and buries them for some time later. We wonder if she will remember all the hiding places, and when she will dig them up.

You are so lucky to live in an area where you get to see and interact with so many of God's beautiful animals.

Have you changed your nick for good and all or is this just a temporary aberration?

She is pretty and if she buries some of her biscuits, she probably isn't
very hungry.

They grab any food available and bury it for leaner times. The neighbors say they saw the ground squirrels dig up some of the buried biscuits and eat them. I just read that in the summer foxes eat a lot grasshoppers and bugs, and they eat the small animals in the winter. I was really hoping for more rodent control, but maybe it will come later.

Wow! I can't believe you get that close to her. I've never seen one close up.

She is timid and nervous, but seems to have a message for us. One of these days we'll figure out what it is.

Good Lord... keep her away from your kitty!

They give each other the eye through the window, but Bud isn't concerned as he would be about another cat, or the deer. But you're right, I can envision Buddy the Cat getting snatched up in the jaws of death. Except Buddy probably weighs more than the fox and would put up a really good fight.

Last night we heard her barking, so maybe there are more foxes now.

She's beautiful! Why don't you name her?
comment by tealstar on July 11, 2010 11:17 AM ()
I guess we haven't given her a name because there is only one fox, so when I say 'the fox' Mr. Tbend knows of whom I speak. We're not much for coming up with names, so when we suspected there was more than one beaver, we started referring to them as Bucky and Buckyetta.

Having your own pet fox is so cool! He/she looks hot. Glad I checked your post before logging off. Have a good 8th day and rest of week.
PS: I used your dishrag this morning and thought of you!

I would be worried about feeding her if she was here all the time, but she doesn't show up for several days, and I hope that means she is out hunting for rodents.
