Colorado Aspen Gold and Orange

The colors of the aspen leaves depend on the weather earlier in the year. This year we have some rare orange in addition to the usual bright yellow. These pictures are from the Estes Park newspaper.

For contrast, here is Trail Ridge Road, which is above the timber line. They will close it for the winter when the snow piles up deep.

The photographer at the local paper is really good, gets out there and takes beautiful pictures of the scenery.

That is so pretty and colorful. It is cooler here than in Colorado right now. Strange weather. It used to be hot through October and freeze on Halloween.

We are in such a mess here. Record setting highs today, more to come tomorrow. Monday's "cold snap" will see us at 70 degrees. But, if we didn't have to worry about the fire danger, woo hoo! perfect weather.

I was going to say this is the prettiest time of year, then got to thinking about how pretty it is in a snowstorm, and then I realized that no, now is the prettier time because the roads are nice and dry, so it's not a mixed blessing.

Nice! You have to look hard to see red around here!

I'll never forget the couple of falls I was in Vermont. We don't that range of color here.

You and a bunch of other people. The traffic is really bad on weekends, but today it was pretty sparse, I'm happy to say.

So beautiful! The trees around here haven't changed that much yet.

A lot of years it's windy or freezes too early and we don't have the best show.

The trees around the yard are changing slowly (lower altitude than these photos). A week or so, and they should peak.
