Bleak Weather

We are experiencing a cold front here in northern Colorado. No rain, just overcast and much cooler daytime temperatures.

Here is part of my garden after being ravaged by hail. I think it will recover for the most part.

The worst looking zucchini was struggling anyway. Fortunately, I covered most of the tomatoes with a sheet, and so far the elk hasn't discovered them.

Every day the sunshine state, beginning around 3, or 3:30, has a monsoon thunderstorm. The plant life loves it. It interferes with my bike ride because I ride late to avoid the sun. Today we had two big storms separated by about a half an hour of sunshine. I am not really complaining -- I know many areas are desperate for water. I just have to plan better.

Wow- you energetic folks who still cook and garden exhaust me!

I'm barely cooking, and that garden practically takes care of itself. Sending hugs and best wishes to you, dear Dottie.

YouKnow picked out a lemon tomato plant, and it has struggled along on the brink of death. I am about to put it out of its misery. The basil did good for awhile, but developed some kind of mid-stem rot and died, so I pulled it out.

well you go from having a pet fox to a pet elk! I knew some creature would come adopt you!

I half wish the elk would hang around, but if it did, only a matter of time before all the garden got eaten. That was the nice thing about the fox: he didn't do any damage. Darn! We miss him so much.

Plaudits for your gardening efforts! I've yet to even attempt one.

The raised bed set up cost hundreds of dollars, and a lot of man hours, but I think it was worth it. I think the man who did all the work agrees, but I'm not quizzing him about it.

Looks like you have another every day visitor

Hasn't been back. I think she got separated from the others, and since she's one of the few from herd that has a collar, she needed to find them.

Love tomatoes, and love elk.

I'm looking forward to the day I start harvesting cucumbers. Hope you are doing okay down there in the sunshine state.
